W. River Drive, Philadelphia

W. River Drive in Philadelphia in not a trail as such, but it does provide a great opportunity to travel along the Schulykill River on a road that is closed to motorvehicles on the weekends. Bikers, hikers and skaters all take to the pavement at their own respective speeds. The course of the road passes Boaters' Row that is on the opposite bank of the river and presents some amazing architecture from the turn of the century (19th into 20). Parking is not well located for this course and you will have some difficulty deciding where to embark from.
